The First Designer
Dennis Pollicino
Born to Italian parents, Dennis grew up surrounded by classical European art and learned craftsmanship from his father, a leather and pottery artisan. Inspired by this creative environment, he dreamed of opening his own store in California. After graduating and serving several years in the U.S. Navy, he pursued that dream and opened his shop. Known for his warm and friendly personality, Dennis was loved as much for his character as for his art. Inheriting his father’s original leather-braiding techniques, he developed his own unique methods and created innovative jewelry designs, earning global recognition for his distinctive craftsmanship.
Second Generation Designer
Shinya Mukaijo
From an early age, Mukaijo was passionate about drawing and craftsmanship, and soon set his sights on becoming a jewelry artisan. While studying metal engraving, he discovered Leathers and Treasures in a magazine, which inspired him to pursue a path in jewelry carving. Determined to learn from Dennis, he repeatedly traveled to the United States and sought opportunities to connect, despite busy schedules preventing their meetings.
In 2006, at the opening of the brand’s flagship store in Japan, Mukaijo finally met Dennis and presented his work. After continued communication and repeated requests for apprenticeship, Dennis accepted him in 2011. Mukaijo then underwent intensive training, traveling between Japan and the U.S. before being officially recognized as the second-generation designer in 2014. Today, he faithfully carries forward the brand’s philosophy while expanding its creative horizon with new designs—from miniature jewelry to lighters—and has been recognized as one of the “125 Contemporary Japanese Jewelry Artists.”
